Stockholm Environment Institute (Oxford)
The Stockholm Environment Institute is an independent, international research institute. Its mission is to support decision-making and induce change towards sustainable development around the world by providing integrative knowledge that bridges science and policy in the field of environment and development. SEI is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and has offices in Estonia, Thailand, UK and US; as well as project offices in Hanoi, Cape Town and Nairobi. SEI has a networking research approach, involving partners in the regions and places of research to widen the views and get local knowledge and values explicitly considered.
SEI works on a variety of climate issues, from modelling impacts and relating vulnerability and exposure to ranges of future climate change, to adaptation planning as a social process, disaster risk reduction, energy and bio-resource economies, international negotiations and climate policy. SEI serves as a node in several key networks in developing countries, including the Centres for Climate Adaptation.
